What we
look for.
Every profile on speakHers is read by a person before it goes on the list. That's the whole product — an organiser trusts the list because someone stood behind each name on it. Here's what we're actually reading for.
A profile an organiser could act on
A real bio, not a job title. Two or three topics you'd genuinely be happy to be booked for. A photo that could go on an event page. If an organiser can't tell what you'd talk about, they won't write to you — and we'd rather tell you that than let your profile sit there unread.
Evidence you've spoken
Something that shows you've done this before: a talk, a panel, a podcast, a workshop, a big internal session. It doesn't have to be a conference keynote and it doesn't have to be recorded — a link, an event name, a date is enough. This is the one we most often send profiles back for.
Expertise that's yours
You should be speaking about something you actually work on. We're not checking seniority or company size — we're checking that there's a reason you, specifically, are the one on that stage.
If we say not yet
Sometimes a profile is fine and the honest answer is that there isn't enough stage time behind it for us to put you in front of an organiser. That's a not-yet, and we mean it literally: get a few talks under your belt — a meetup, a panel, a company event — and ask us for another look. We keep the conversation, so you won't have to start again from the beginning.
We'll always tell you which of these it is, in a note written by one of us rather than by a system. You can reply to it from your profile page.
